Media Heroes Task 5:

Jonathan George Snow (Journalist, Television Presenter and News Anchor)

Best known as the longest-running presenter on Channel 4 News, it is clear to see that Jon  Snow is dedicated to his career and has a passion for Journalism and Media.

Jon Snow's Early Life Information
Snow was hired by Lord Longford to direct the New Horizon Youth Centre, which was a day centre for young, homeless people in Central London. As this was in the early years of his life, I think it demonstrates that Jon Snow is a Philanthropist and also cares about contributing towards tackling issues within society, instead of just informing people about them. He later became a chairman of the day centre.

Snow's Dedication
Snow being dedicated to his career can be shown in the fact that he was sent to Haiti in 2010 to report on the Cholera Outbreak. To go to an area of a highly contagious disease shows extreme dedication and bravery, I believe.

Some of  Snow's Honours and Awards
Did you know, Jon Snow declined an OBE as he thought working journalists should not take honours from those about whom they report. In May 2015, Snow accepted a BAFTA Fellowship at the 2015 BAFTA Awards Ceremony. Also, Snow became Honorary Director of Oxford Brookes in 2009, following his term as Chancellor of that University.   

Finally, Jon Snow is my favourite Channel 4 News Presenter, who has presented on the channel since 1989. Thank you for reading.

 Here, in this advert from the 1950s, a woman is displayed in a kitchen with the slogan, "another day in paradise".This conveys how society moulded women into people who would enjoy staying at home in the kitchen, cooking and cleaning for their husbands and families. Also, the fact that the woman is wearing a lot of makeup with a very feminine and stylish hair-do, suggest that society had an ideology that women should be very feminine with long hair and that they should sit looking pretty. This supports Judith Butler's theory that society moulds people into how they think they should act, according to their gender. Photography Project Task 3:

The Rule Of Thirds: By using the 'Rule Of Thirds', it allows photographers to capture well-balanced shots and is something that most photographers learn in their beginning stages. Studies have shown that the eyes of people naturally go to the intersection points (lines on the 9 square grid that appears when taking an image.) By lining the most interesting parts of the scene/ thing you want to capture with the intersection points, will cause your image to be more 'balanced' and have a better effect.  In these examples, you can see that the most interesting parts of the images are in-line with the intersection points.

Task 3:

1) Watch the short film 'Colourbleed'. 2) This short film could be considered creative because of the costumes used. The way they make the girl dress a lot more colourfully compared to the other characters in the short film instantly represents the girl as a creative person, more creative than the others. Also, the graphics used are really creative for example, the way they make her bleed colour and bring colour to anything she touches. I think it is creative because a normal person would just bleed red blood but its the fact she bleeds colour. The music used is very intense at certain parts of the film and builds tension for the person watching the film. Finally, the different shot types are creative because they film her and other characters from all angles. This is creative and effective because they zoom in on her face and show her expressions, informing the audience on how she is feeling and showing her make up, which is also quite bold.
